About Us | Calvary Chapel Solano

Our Story

Who We Are

A community of believers serving Fairfield and Solano County since 1981, rooted in the Word of God.

Our History

From Three People
to a Family

Calvary Chapel Solano began in 1981 as a home fellowship outreach of Calvary Chapel of Napa — just three people gathering on a Monday night for Bible study led by Frank Ippolito. After seeking God's direction through prayer, they decided to continue, and the fellowship gradually grew.

By 1982 the group had expanded enough to split into a second home fellowship, with Damian Kyle leading the new group, and a third fellowship soon emerged in Vacaville under Jim Ore's teaching. Eventually all three groups held joint Thursday night meetings. The church incorporated in August 1985 and converted a furniture warehouse on Parker Road into its first dedicated facility in 1986.

In 1992, Joseph Prudhomme became senior pastor after Frank Ippolito moved to Europe for missionary work. The congregation relocated to 743 E. Tabor in 1995, then to 1128 Western Street in 1999. The church purchased five acres of adjacent property and broke ground on a new building in 2001 — dedicated by Pastor Chuck Smith in October 2002. Over 45 years, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to teaching the whole Bible, verse by verse, book by book.

Our Foundation

What We Believe

We hold to the core truths of orthodox Christianity as taught in the whole counsel of God's Word.

Biblical Authority

The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God — our complete rule for faith and life, taught verse-by-verse through every book. (2 Pet. 1:19–21; 2 Tim. 3:16)

The Trinity

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit — co-equal, co-eternal, and fully personal. (Deut. 6:4; Heb. 1:3; Acts 5:3–4)

Jesus Christ

We affirm His full deity, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and His future millennial return as King. (John 1:1–18; 1 Cor. 15:3–4; Rev. 20:4)

The Rapture

We expect the Church to be caught up to meet the Lord before the tribulation. This blessed hope shapes our priorities, our urgency, and our joy. (1 Thess. 4:13–18)

Salvation

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. (Acts 16:30–31; 1 John 1:7–10)

New Birth

Regeneration by the Holy Spirit — being born again — is absolutely essential for personal salvation. New life in Christ is a transforming work of God, not merely a decision. (John 3:16; Titus 3:5)

The Holy Spirit

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is available to believers today. The Spirit empowers Christians to live godly lives, understand Scripture, and serve the body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12:13; Acts 1:8; Luke 11:13)

Sanctification

The indwelling Holy Spirit enables believers to pursue holiness — an ongoing work of grace that progressively conforms us to the image of Christ. (Rom. 8:11; 1 Pet. 1:2)

The Resurrection

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people — the saved unto eternal life with God, and the lost unto eternal judgment. We live with the hope of Christ's return. (Matt. 25:31–46; Rev. 20:11–15)

Our Mission

"To Know Christ
and Make Him Known"

Everything we do — Sunday services, Life Groups, youth ministry, Silver Saints fellowship — flows from this one calling. We exist to help people encounter the living God through His Word, and then take that encounter into every corner of Solano County.

The Calvary Chapel Movement

Part of Something
Bigger

Calvary Chapel Solano is part of the worldwide Calvary Chapel movement — a fellowship of churches united by a love for God's Word and a commitment to expository teaching.

The Calvary Chapel movement began in the late 1960s under Pastor Chuck Smith in Costa Mesa, CA, and has since grown to thousands of churches worldwide. Our distinctive is simple: we go through the Bible systematically, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, believing that "all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness" (2 Tim. 3:16).

We're a non-denominational church that loves all genuine followers of Jesus, regardless of background.
